The Patient Story Press

The Patient Story humanizes every cancer diagnosis - helping patients, caregivers, and survivors tell the story of their personal experience. In-depth interviews, our FAQ format, and treatment timelines give the first-hand account of what life is really like after a cancer diagnosis.

If you'd like to help us spread the word to cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers, send us a hello at press@thepatientstory.com.

Our Impact

Like so many newly diagnosed patients, when The Patient Story founder Stephanie Chuang received her diagnosis, she went into research mode. It was easy to find jargon-heavy medical and statistics – most of which carried negative narratives. What she couldn’t find were the real stories from people like her who had been through it. So Stephanie decided to build a community that emphasizes the patient and survivor story.

While cancer isn’t easy, many people make it through - often with incredible perspectives and guidance to share. Today, The Patient Story is connecting thousands of patients, caregivers, and survivors together to help each other navigate the human side of life with cancer.

Our History

The Patient Story founder Stephanie Chuang was diagnosed with stage-3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in December 2016. Like so many newly diagnosed cancer patients and their caregivers, she and her family found themselves swimming in questions, studies, and statistics.

After almost 700 hours of chemotherapy and the adjustment to life post-treatment, Stephanie returned to what she knew best: storytelling. Before her diagnosis, she spent 10 years as a TV news journalist, last working as a reporter for NBC Bay Area News. Her own experience of cancer and need for personal connection led her to launch The Patient Story in 2019. Today, the community is providing a vibrant, safe place where patients, survivors, and caregivers can share their stories and uplift each other.
